An Accessible Home of Your Dreams

Conquer helps this family create a home that allows them to live to their fullest potential!

Last fall we announced the Home Division of Conquer, and it has been amazing watching this new branch of the business take off. Home is our safe place, our happy place, and where so many good memories occur. With their permission, I want to share one of the projects we have been working on.  It has been a true blessing to help this family create a home that fits their entire family’s needs.  Working with the best of the best, Chris Mantia, Mantia Fine Builds and Natalie Covey with Landmark Realtors, we were able to make this dream home happen.

Let me introduce you to Steve, Kara, and Penny…

As a therapist, I have had the pleasure of working with the youngest member of the family, Penelope, the past few years. Penny loves to play, is hilarious, articulate, smart, loves to go outside, and is destined to move mountains.

Over the past few years, I have watched Penny grow. She has grown physically, and grown in her desire to have autonomy and independence as most three year olds do. Penny faces challenges in her day to day activities to get around her space. Last summer, as she was nearing her third birthday her amazing parents and team all concluded that Penny would greatly benefit from a motorized wheelchair. This motorized wheelchair would allow her the independence she so desperately wants and deserves.

The largest obstacle was that the family’s home was very much not made to accommodate Penny cruising around in this piece of equipment.. They lived in a traditional 2-story home with bedrooms and full bathrooms upstairs.

The family was left with a huge decision to make- stay in their current home which would limit Penny’s ability to explore her independence even with modifications, or find a new home.

A Hard Decision about their Home

After a ton of hard conversations and weighing many options with Conquer, Natalie, and Chris, the family made the decision to move to an open ranch home. Natalie was able to find them a beautiful home that would be much easier to modify to meet the family’s needs.

Mantia Fine Builds and Conquer Home Division got to work to make the house a home for the family to enjoy for many years to come.

Updates: Bathroom

The original bathroom prevented Penny from fully reaching the sink.  Penny’s right side is stronger than her left, so the placement of the faucet made it impossible to utilize the sink.  Because she has weakness on one side, hand pump soap is very difficult for her. When in her wheelchair, she was unable to see herself in the mirror. Here is a picture…
